This is massive subject. We are brought up by parents who teach us that to tell lies is wrong.. yeah.. telling THEM lies is wrong! Then I also learn through life experience that adults lie all of the time. (Father Christmas, the tooth fairy?) They lie to us, they lie to each other. They groom us in the skill without even realising what they are doing, just the same as their parents did to them.
The untruths come into several categories. Some are told as a direct answer to a question, probably to get the respondent out of trouble, but some are told to cause hurt and distress for reasons best known only to the liar themselves. Some folks are compulsive liars, who actually tell a lie and then believe what they have told.
The subject of lying within this life is an odd one. I think, in the main, it is a given that punters expect guy like me, they see to be professional liars. I hate telling lies. I do my darndest not to. I have fine tuned my repertoire so that the telling of lies is not done.
This life is a melting pot of untruth and dishonesty. I try very hard not to be contributory, but what I am doing is a dishonest practice somehow, especially for those of us who were married.
Its those damn questions.. now if I could move away from some of those...
We are living in the world of lies...
