2014 Another Resolutions

It is said that New Year resolution is bound to be broken. This is the reason, why most of the New Year resolutions are considered rubbish. Many people make New Year resolution just for sake of 1 day commitment, while some make them with a sheer seriousness. For example, if you have an obesity problem, you can make a New Year resolution on that... But for sure I don't want to that consider lot of good food that I haven't taste #lol.. And how to do it then internet is the best place where you can find plethora of them. Herewith list of my resolutions wish list... If one failed then at least I can started to have another excuses...

For sure,  I will not bore my bosses by with the same excuse for not understand their language. I will think of some more excuses.

I will stop considering other people's feelings when they so obviously don't consider mine - if that too much talking fellow sits next to me again, I'll tell them that pssst!

I will give up liquor chocolates totally... Well but I believed it will manageable if I ate separately.

Just for today, I will not sit in my office room all day with stress poker face. Instead, I will move my poker face into the meeting room.

For another stuff, I will spend less than one hour a day on the Internet. This, of course, will be hard to estimate since I'm not a clock watcher.

When I hear a funny joke, I will not reply... Besides laughing.

Lastly, I will be a good old man because another +1 will be adding to my age.

God bless you all!

Do You Think Cloud Computing Can Help Create Network Effect to Support Crowdsourcing?

This topic brought up somehow after (again) I have read an article about convergence, in this new era, any network effect starts with a small set of something and it eventually grows bigger and bigger - users, content etc. The cloud makes it a great platform for such systems that demand this kind of growth. The adoption barrier is close to zero for the companies whose business model actually depends upon creating these effects. They can provision their users, applications, and content on the cloud and be up and running in minutes and can grow as the user base and the content grows. This actually shifts the power to the smaller players and help them compete with the big cloud players and yet allow them to create network effects.

The big cloud players, that are currently on the supply side of this utility mode, have few options on the table. They either can keep themselves to the infrastructure business and I would wear my skeptic hat and agree with a lot of people on the poor viability of this capital intensive business model that has very high operational cost. This option alone does not make sense and the big companies have to have a strategic intent behind such large investment. Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are the supply side cloud infrastructure players that are already moving in the demand side of the tools business though I would not call them the equal players exploring all the opportunities.

And last but not the least, there is a sustainability angle around the cloud providers. They can help consolidate thousands of data centers into few hundreds based on the geographical coverage, availability of water, energy, and dark fiber etc. This is similar to consolidating hundreds of dirty coal plants into few non-coal green power plants that can produce clean energy with efficient transmission and distribution system.

Nokia Lumia 900 vs Samsung Galaxy S3

I love gadget.... but I just want to compare 2 devices that currently trend in the market as I am using them besides my iPhone 4S. Somehow, what’s so special about this particular WP7 device? Let’s see: An 8MP camera sporting Carl Lens optics, a smooth and beautiful OS, LTE coverage, and the most attractive design of any handset out. But while it’s unarguably the best Windows Phone on the scene... yes, the Lumia 900 does have imperfections. Call quality could have been better and it’s almost baffling to see a phone sporting a Carl Zeiss lens having focus issues. In the end, the pros do outweigh the cons.

For usage comparison, Samsung Galaxy S3 Android Mobile, in the hand feels superb. The design contours well against the palm, and while the screen size may be a little big for some (I need a bit of shuffling to reach the upper section of the screen) it's definitely useable in the hand. So in short: I don't mind with a slightly lighter-feeling polycarbonate shell (although looks cheap!) and I like big HD screens in my pocket, this is a phone definitely one of my best!

Next Question: what next? iPhone 5?

How to Design An Approach to Fight Complexity And Failure

Being in R&D company always occupied my brain to thinking what will be in the future, with simplicity result and complexity ways to absorb overall requirement; necessary design thinking for software architecture is a must, well - I just want to share a bit about that...

Another common point of confusion is the distinction between design thinking and Agile methods of software development. The primary difference is that Agile offers a specific set of prescriptive processes while design thinking encapsulates a set of guidelines and general principles. Although not the same, the two approaches are highly complementary (even on the same project), because both recognize the benefits of using iterative work cycles to pursue customer-centric goals. Always remember that real people work on every project. The best methodologies are inherently people-centric and help participants anticipate likely causes of failure. Visualizing failure early in a project is an excellent means to prevent it from occurring. We’re all human and may make mistakes but certainly no one wants to fail. Finally, design thinking can make potential failure a learning tool and not a final outcome.

Next Question: in reality?

2012 Year of Hope

I always start new year with big mouth and awesome spirit of life... I’m not big on New Year’s Resolutions. I can’t remember the last time I did one, most likely because every resolution is a setup for failure. But several months ago I decided for a resolution for 2012 and it all started with my appetite to try new foods... well, my wife now should stop me! *lol* The resolution is very simple and I can’t fail (well, I can but I won’t).

My 2012 resolution is very simple for NOW, no more mumbo-jumbo big mouth words; simply every time I go out for lunch or dinner with someone else, I’ll let the other person decide on my dish. That’s it! I’ll not be making my own choices on restaurants for 2012!

To support this, there are a few rules for the “game”:
- If the person sitting with me is my family or my wife, I’ll ask them or her to pick my meal.
- If the person is someone who I don’t feel comfortable asking that question, I’ll just let him/her order and I’ll say “the same for me”
- If I’m eating alone, I’ll ask the waitress what she likes and order the first thing she says, or order the special of the day.

I eat pretty much anything, so there won’t be much I won’t like and I expect to have tried many things I would not have tried otherwise... but, wait...exclude frogs!

Why?

In two words: selection bias. We have ingredients that we like a lot and every time that we see it on a dish we are inclined to ordering it. I think the selection bias just gets worse with age and instead of expanding the list of ingredients and foods we like, we narrow it to just a few, making us picky eaters and “old people”.

And this resolution starts in 3, 2, 1… Now!

I hope...

Empty Cup

Something happened with me these days... Anyway, a weird thing happened to me today. I decided to google my own name. I was just messing around on the computer, avoiding a routine that I should prepare for my work. I started with my full name and received only boring, work-related results, as well as the results for some other people who happens to share my names. This is when things became interesting this evening. As a lecturer you always find yourself wondering if you've ever truly mattered, if you've ever truly "reached" a student. Tonight, through the wonders of Google, I have my answer.

Anyway, I should get to my point. So, I was googling my name and I stumbled upon my name mentioned in a blog written by myself or any other stupid journal when I was young *tsk*. Of course I was curious, so I clicked the link. I discovered, to my surprise, that the particular post that mentioned my name referenced this particular press stuff and the positive memories some of my friends have of it. After all of the fun and inspiration and general mix of feelings involved in my first foray into lecturing, indeed it was worthwhile to someone else besides me, my mum especially. I wonder how many more blogs of former students I'll stumble upon before my career is over-- I hope it's many more!

Daydreamer

I wonder why I called this note about Daydreamer? Somehow, life is hard from some people perspectives, there are a lot of problem, small or big. In fact, sometimes we do not realize that some matters will cause us problem. In love or relationship for instance, there are many many problem can arise without we notice, such as honesty...

I may think that. Being honest is enough, just tell the truth when our partner ask and not lying to them is sufficient in safeguarding our relationship. Somehow, if we are an over sensitive person, we may get hurt easily by the people words, but the sad thing is we did not realize that we are an over sensitive person…. arch! Am I??

So were the people around me, they may not realize that they are dealing with an over sensitive person, that their criticism will give the over sensitive person a hard-to-heal-emotional wound. I may think that my life is as smooth as my plan, but sometimes it is not. I share a lot of quotes, to overcome my problem in life and make me realize that sometimes a small issue may cause me such a big problem.

Why mind is simple? I just read a book about practice mind power. And what I just found that actually our mind is really simple, friendly to the user, but at the same time very powerful. But, they will never give an answer such as; whether we need a degree/master/phd or money or supportive family or talent etc… blah… So where the desire, determination, and believe come from? OUR MIND! It's very simple but our mind can be the source of everything. Just think big and positive I believe there's is always something for me, if not money or status may be it's happiness. Very simple isn't? Although, often I don't understand whether my logic action is right or wrong…

Be happy...

Mobile Cloud Services and Their Dreams

As I have noted in my early blog about Future Mobile Technology, there are many hints about kind of research found that annual revenues from cloud-based mobile applications will reach nearly $9.5 billion by 2014 (again we can see these numbers from many expert in the internet), fuelled by the need for converged, collaborative services, the widespread adoption of mobile broadband services and the deployment of key technological enablers. These reports found that enterprise applications will account for the majority of revenues over the next five years, with businesses increasingly seeking to capitalize on the ability of "Platform as a Service" (PaaS) providers to offer scalable, flexible data storage solutions allied to device agnostic, synchronized office services (re. Microsoft and HP).

However, consumer-oriented services will comprise an ever-larger proportion of total revenues, derived both from time-based subscriptions to services such as mobile online gaming and advertising from cloud-based social networks, that terminology being buzzed from early days as well as around 2-3 years ago. And, the mobile cloud services report warned that many enterprise customers still remained wary of entrusting their personal data to remote third-parties.

I found other findings from Juniper report, and herewith as what they said:
* While the onset of a cloud-based ecosystem may further erode the strength of the mobile operator/customer relationship, cloud offers operators the opportunity to develop new revenues streams as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and PaaS providers.
* Lack of network capacity may continue to be a constraint on the growth of network-based services even after LTE and WiMAX networks are deployed.

My conclusion, how to make money for the emerging countries?

What is Next for Mobile Technology in 2011 and Beyond?

We are already in mid of 2011, there are some list that mumbling around about these mobile technologies since before 2011, with each prediction explained in more detail in the free reports you can review in the internet most of them. Anyway herewith my comment;
1. Surging Mobile Data Traffic, well as always being screamed since 2009 ...
2. Augmented Reality to Enhance Mobile Games and Retail, and question always how to sell it bundling with the mobile devices?
3. Cloud-Based Operating Systems are Launched, also how to make money from the Cloud?
4. Mobile Banking will become a “must-have” not a “nice-to-have” when opening a new account, and still depending with Government regulations *sigh*
5. Mobile Devices Begin to Replace Credit Cards, which ideally starting from point 4 to be matured first.
6. Mobile Handsets Become Even More Sensitive, and war of the Giants for smart phones begin...
7. Mobile Lottery Tickets Sales to Soar Fuelled by Deployments in US, Europe, and China, looking forward for other emerging countries.
8. Mobile-Specific Threats Lead to Demand for Mobile-Specific Security, which somehow RIM can be seen as early adopter for this technology.
9. Acquisition Launches Social Purchasing, starting from the buzz words "CONNECT ME"
10. Environmental Handsets For All… Green Mobile vs Green Money?

Anyway, I also want to start specific buzz word for growing mobile marketing and advertising services. The subscriber for mobile marketing and advertising is growing steadily, and spending on the new medium is growing in parallel. One six-month period in 2010 saw spending expand in the US market by almost 2.5 percent, and a new ABI Research study indicates that in 2016, revenue from mobile display ads will be getting close to $1.5 billion (amazing numbers). We can see from Google as well how the overall spending on mobile ad media has accelerated with the arrival of the autumn “back to school” and end-of-year holiday seasons, and is expected to approach $1 billion by year’s end.

Before 2011 this industry was seen as quite “experimental,” and there was a shift starting at the end of last year from the pioneering phase to what we might call the ‘early growth phase.’ By now, I can assumed around 20% of all major companies have done something with mobile marketing, and some of them are doing so repeatedly (re. Digital Marketing). And mobile marketing and advertising fall into five categories:
* Text messages.
* Mobile display (banner) ads.
* Mobile search.
* In-application advertising.
* In-video advertising.
All of these may have their uses within a campaign, as does location data; however, currently, mobile is often seen as a distinct channel, but eventually there will be nothing special about it; it will be understood as an integrated part of a campaign’s overall strategy…

Time Capsule in 2010 and Moving to 2011

We all know that month of December rapidly escaped into the hands to Mother of Time, as though each moment had more important things to do. I’m a person who lives wholeheartedly in the present but to no avail, the sands of the hourglass are cascading in full furies... *sounds like Harry Potter*

Time bears all, time heals all and time tells all. In life and in all things, all I have to do is give it time. All in good time, all on its own time and just in the nick of time. Those are clichés, I might say. But all good clichés reveal what we believe to be mostly experienced.

What else is time? What value does 24 hours have to me? Better yet, how do I value my time? What is my planning with my time in 2011?

Time is like money (time is not money, let us not insult time) in that time is a resource. Most people wouldn’t dream of wasting money, but what about wasting time? What’s a waste of time? I have questioned myself whether I am wasting my time?

What is my planning with my time in 2011? What matters to me? What do I want to be? What do I want to accomplish? Who do I want to spend my time with? Where is my time going?

Arrghhh..... I need to take the time to think about this today, because all is in my head that have today is today. If I've never considered relflecting myself, then know this; please fully understand the importance and caliber of time...

By the way, what time is it? *38 years old man still wondering about time*

Corporate Journey

Sometimes in the morning I realized that sometimes I can find victory in the effort, although I was sick in the morning... so that was my theme for that day, so here are my victories... Collateral change management, and that's when it hit me. Of course I thought team performance was perfect. I'd created it. I would be more than happy to review it.
Here's what I realized:
- My perfect is not other people perfect.
- They don't have a perfect. In fact, there is no they. There is an individual, who wants something a little different.
- The more perfect I think it is, the less willing I'll be to let anyone change it.
- The only way to make it useful to everyone is to allow each person to change it to suit him or herself.
- The only way people will use it is if they do change it in some way.
- The only way I will encourage them to change it and make it their own is if I make it imperfect.
And I changed everything to make it half right, half finished. It wasn't pretty, but it was usable. I always asked the same question:
Why won't this work for me?
One by one I dealt with all the issues people saw as obstacles. One by one they made their own changes. One by one they took ownership for the system and became accountable for using it. Is this only a large-scale change effort idea? I don't think so. It's useful whenever I need someone else to take ownership for something. Just get it half right.
Here's the hard part: When someone changes my plan, I might think the new approach will be less effective. Resist the temptation to explain why my way is better. Just smile and say Great. The drive, motivation, and accountability that person will gain from running with its own idea will be well worth it.
Imperfectly, that is me.

Keep Trying...

Over the weekend, my mother and I fell into a serious discussion about the challenges of people management. “Why don’t people feel accountable?” I mumbled that to her.

Well, I guess I’m not sure.
I’m excited to come to the office every day and face whatever challenges are in front of me. I love to work (addicted may be). I’m excited about the industry I work for. I wish everyone in my team could feel like that, but I understand that some don’t.

Many times, the solution boils down to better communication and better attitudes. Management can communicate better by keeping everyone informed on critical issues, delivering frequent team updates, conducting open-forum activities, etc. Better attitudes? Well, that’s entirely up to the individual. I had the privilege of working some years at a business software company. At the first company meeting I attended, my boss said something like this: If you don’t like it here, leave. If you spend most of your day complaining about your job, find something else to do... well... shocking me at that time!

Anyway, blast to current situation, I have words throughout my team that say “Be the person you want to work with.” Most of us think a little differently: everyone else should work like me. That is nasty! haha...

I formed teams with different personalities and talents. I have to keep that in mind as I look around at the people I am work with. Different people, naturally, work differently. Maybe someone I find difficult to work with will bring a fresh perspective to a problem. Maybe the person who barely speaks in a group setting has brilliant ideas if I let them write down on paper first.

Well, I am open to other points of view, if I try to help instead of criticize, and if I try being the person I want to work with, others might follow my example. Even if somehow my job isn’t my most passion, I can still make the most of it by having a good attitude, and being grateful to have a job in such a tough economic climate.

Questions: Do you think my boss will think the same? Wake up Alf!

Emails...

How many times a week does your inbox flood with mail, and yet you’re disappointed and feel like none of it is worthwhile?

I’ve noticed this happening more and more with the dozens of emails I receive every day. I eagerly scan the incoming subject lines and who they’re from, and more often than not, I sigh and lean back in my chair because it’s all junk. Maybe junk I opted in for, or junk that I am sort of interested in but just not in the mood for at the time. In any case, I find that they mostly fall into one of these 5 categories:

1. Spam, spam, spam. It’s not even creative anymore. And those phishing attempts? Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. But the fact that people are still bothering means that there are a few suckers out there keeping the needle in a haystack method attractive for unscrupulous folk.
2. Newsletters. Most of the time there’s a sale announcement or a coupon from stores/companies/organizations for which I am a patron, which is fine. But after a few newsletters, I usually realize that the content is the same and the email’s only worth opening if I have a specific need to purchase something. I probably subscribe to too many newsletters, but I have just enough interest in their content or products to put up with frequent emails.
3. Boring. Bills, statements, order information, automated notifications or confirmations. All that business-y types of stuff that is relevant, but not usually exciting.
4. Semi-interesting. These are usually emails that seem interesting upon first glance, but turn out to be forwards, rickrolls, or misleading subject lines. Or from an email group that sometimes has useful or interesting content.
5. Good stuff. Personal email from acquaintances, friends, fans, and family. These are always the first ones I open (even if I’m a horrible slacker and don’t respond as quickly as I intend to).

I think my inbox apathy really mirrors the allure of personal snail mail; The best kind of mail to receive has a familiar return address and your name hand-written on the front.

When’s the last time you sent a handwritten letter to someone? I sealed up a letter to my teenage cousin a couple hours ago and will send it out tomorrow. It definitely takes more time, thought, and effort to write a letter the old-fashioned way… but as a recipient, that’s what I value the most.

My Personal Space

What is it about the inherent social-spatial lesson that I (and what seems like most people) understand that some people just don’t get?

You probably know what I’m talking about: when you enter a space that you must share with other members of the public, such as a foodcourt, you don’t sit down close to a stranger if there is a spot available at a “safe” distance, or one that is equidistant from other strangers. In a small room or on public transportation, it’s more acceptable to be in close proximity because there isn’t much space to begin with. But in a large room, it’s customary to allow for plenty of personal space and not crowd someone for no reason.

Right?

Next question: Wondering life in the moon?

Shit Life!

I have heard from so many people who complain about life and how shit is. Most in every single case the person who has been complaining has done absolutely nothing to change their life to make it less shit... so they are dumbed in stack of shit life then LOL!
Some people complained as a shit because they don’t have the money to do the things they want! There are literally hundreds of ways to make extra money, but ONLY if you are willing to work for it. I don’t mean work hard all day and all night I mean work smart and automate as much as possible so you are making money whilst you sleep.. how? use your shit imagination then *rite?*.

Or myself that always thinking that shit because I don’t have my ideal partner!
Again, I have thinking like this that I am giving all of my power away to an unknown entity, namely the person I think I should be with. But, rejunevate myself and try to do here is concentrate on being happy with myself before giving up part of the power to someone else. Heard from wise people that another piece of advice would be to concentrate on my strengths. Don’t waste time on minor weaknesses, concentrate on building up the things that I am already good at... which is complained Life is Shit!

Sometimes, that advice might be right, everybody might not like me and for one reason – I don’t like myself. There is no possible way people will like me until I truly like myself and if I am at this stage I have a lot of work to do on myself. Small steps – Every single journey I take in my life will begin with a small step and this is the same for changing my life. At this stage don’t think about the bigger picture, think about the small changes I want to make and work on them continuously and build up my repertoire until I am happy with myself.
I have to say if I am happy feeling like shit then there is obviously no need to make any changes... *rite?*

Next question: Any other shit in life?

Any other ‘F-wording question’?

About Perception and Reality

Well, I copied this note from my old blog -- (March 2009) This early morning, I dig considering what our collective thought energy can create. It’s the type of thing that’s worth contemplation free of that very energy.

I’m no better or worse than anyone else. I’m not interested in being right making anyone else wrong or vice versa.

One of the manifestations of that thought energy is the saying: Perception is reality. If you are reading this I’m not suggesting that you subscribe to this. We’d probably agree, however, that regardless of your subscriber status, said publication is doing very well in terms of circulation!

Perception, for me, is the way I’m viewed by everyone other than me, usually decided by actions, deeds, thoughts, etc. to them or anyone else.

For me, energy invested into shifting perceptions of me is fruitless. However, to myopically walk on my path without listening or observing is just the opposite (meaning I’m investing energy into NOT shifting others perceptions…oy) is just as fruitless.

In either of the above cases, I have decided to become a subscriber to my reality being driven by what I call perception.

Everything is always changing, including the way people think about and do things that they encounter in their lives often in the context of what they already have experienced. And nothing is more tiring to consider than having to consider how to appear loving based on what loving means at that period of time. It doesn’t mean that I don’t educate myself I just don’t educate myself on what others consider to be ok based on what’s out there for them.

What that adds up to for me is I am attentive to my body when I am speaking with anyone. If I tense up based on what they are saying or doing, it’s a good sign that I have to consider why I feel disconnected from my source.

The first time I look to them in any way to help my shoulders relax, I’m in trouble. Now, I’ve created a relationship where I look to them for the approval that deceptively feels connecting. In addition I’ve created a future that will have that issue be egg shell city.

I am independent of the opinion of others about me. It doesn’t mean that I don’t listen….well I should say it doesn’t mean that I eventually won’t listen (yes, sometimes that sneaky ego gets in the way)….it just means that I won’t that I won’t be held hostage by what they are saying by defending myself or creating a plan that will demonstrate to them that I now am what they believe I should be.

I will try to explain what I do or say in different ways as well as share my intention.

I am blessed because I know that inside of that I am sharing my truth. My truth has no need to fret about matching up with a reality based on the perceptions of someone whose truth I’ll never know and who will never know mine.

Ironically, our truths can connect…when our minds are silent in space and we are attentive, or suppose when we die and are, I guess, with our arm lights around each other’s shoulders laughing hysterically in the universe chatting about the one time when we got in this big dispute that ultimately means nothing….that sounds like a cool reality to me.

Next question: Who am I?

Now, Online is a King! Do you have ANY idea how many hidden money making ideas are in our twitter?! I have heard a entire slew of expert talk about not following back on twitter. That without a doubt in my mind to be one of the dumbest things I have heard of on twitter. So wait everyone should follow us and then we follow back our special “chosen ones”, rite? And the past excuse was “oh I can’t read that many tweets hard to follow” yeah right like they can’t aggregate with Tweetdeck and Hootsuite available to say the least.

And now they really have no excuse. Because with the invention of lists on twitter you can’t complain any longer. The excuses are officially over for those so called leaders of twitter. So here is where the money making ideas part comes in because these same entrepreneurs are always trying to sell our ways to make money while stepping over the most significant online business ideas of the decade!

Anyway...twitter allows me to find out what my customers want without directly asking them. No other social media as I write this has that advantage. Just sit there and watch your twitter stream I almost guarantee you, you will see some money making ideas just from watching.

Next question: follow me @aboediman :)

Letter to My Boss

Dear Friends,

I just want to share something about "What Makes a Good Boss?". Well, a lot of wise people says that there are some attributes for the best boss:
- Fair - Honest - Understanding - Approachable - A good communicator

And we are bosses of our own life (for sure)... anyway... but how to dealing positively with a "bad" boss that can bring unexpected benefits --
Current Case:
For sure - I'm only a guardian dog in small group of smart people, and I try to lead this smart people in my department. I've read a book about "Plain Talk About Leadership", and I wish my boss would read this as well. He's a terror and has absolutely no people skills. He rules with threats and intimidation. Everybody has the feeling that any one of us would be stabbed in the back if the company would benefit in some way. Even if we're able to tolerate this ongoing browbeating, we fear that we'll, be caught in the next round of layoffs.

People in my department are more productive and happier than most in the company (I think), but the horrible environment around us tends to overshadow everything I do. I have begun to question whether a 'people approach' to leadership is realistic in today's dog-eat-dog corporate world.

It seems that each week our company becomes more and more numbers focused and less and less people oriented. We've lost many good people because of this hostile atmosphere. I've considered leaving myself but haven't done so because of my team and passion of this industry. As you can imagine, morale is horrible.
What can one lowly guardian dog like me do to lead in a positive manner in a company that doesn't care about its people? Anybody can help me out?

Heart to heart:
Well after reflecting in the mirror -- I have also some answers for above case....
It may be of little consolation, but above case indicate that I am only one of many who experience this type of work environment. The most important point for me to remember is: It's not me! It's not my behavior that is causing my boss to fuss and fume. It is simply a style of leadership, an approach that's unlikely to change, even if he or she reads above statement about "What Makes a Good Boss?". This intimidating form of leadership somehow has brought this person to a senior management level, so why change?

Throughout my career that I will have many bosses-some good, some bad. Most people tell me, and my own experience confirms it, that during my career, I'll have more bad bosses than good ones. But somehow, I can learn from all of them. Everyone has leadership traits that I may wish to emulate-and leadership traits that I will want to avoid.

Again, when I am forced to deal with my boss's angry outbursts, don't become emotionally involved. I just simply remember, it's not me. Imagine that I am watching a TV movie. Listen carefully to the message. Watch the ways the character gets the message across. The threats and intimidation don't matter. It's just a movie-only this one I can't turn off. Some movie characters I like; some I don't like. But all of them make life interesting. And being exposed to such characters in real life helps strengthen us to endure the day-to-day challenges that all of us face.

Once I understand the situation, I am learning to carry out the instructions in my own way. Use the friendly, communicative, enthusiastic leadership style that I often discuss among team. Chances are that the people who report to me know what I am going through. I think - they'll appreciate my running interference for them and will be especially responsive to my novice leadership skill.

Message for this:
Chances are that your boss won't be your boss forever. He or she may retire, may be fired by the board because of his or her offensive treatment of people or, who knows, may be promoted. With excellent leadership skills, the new "big boss" could be you. Certainly if conditions are so distasteful that you can't endure another day on the job, you may wish to make a job change, but be very cautious. The odds are about seven out of ten that your new "big boss" will be as bad as the old one.

I agree that the fear of layoffs has an. adverse effect on people. While necessary in a few instances (if a company can't meet its Friday payroll, there may be no choice), in most cases layoffs weaken companies. When a layoff is threatened, many employees brush off their resumes. Some will initiate an active job search even before they know whether or not they will be affected. If opportunities arise, many jump ship. The ones who don't move are so paralyzed that they can't give their full attention to serving customers. Productivity almost certainly slows as morale begins to freefall.

Again - be your own boss and motivate yourself!

Computer in My Brain

Wondering a computing with a brain power, is it possible? Personal thought, I don't think we are ready as a society for implants, because of the possibility of control by others. When we have been able to eliminate big brother, now rampant, then maybe... the possibilities are absolutely endless. If control is not central to the issue, then you don't need implants. Once you create an interface to the human nervous system, then you can eliminate things like tiredness or laziness, and get rid of fat... you can put people to work.. and that makes for excellent slaves. remember the basic idea of the matrix. addon portable computer power is available now.... you can buy memory for under a dollar a gigabyte now. applications are endless.. but to control people physically... its an application that is the dream of the evil empire... (yeah.. Darth Vader!!!)

There is no technology with more potential, especially if you add in quantum computing, but also there is no technology inherently more dangerous, and more capable of making human slaves.

BUT in the opposite mindset, did you actually read what I wrote? Too much negativity has already held the human race back WAY to far! People are going to die!!! Ethics like that has been killing the human race for ever! Don't you find that a little ridiculous in this day and age, especially with the knowledge and technology we have at our finger tips. Dead is a little final. Enhancing my life with a chip or two.... what the heck, BRING IT ON, I'll have a dozen thanks. I would love to live to 200, 2000. Couldn't care less if it takes a chip or two. Rather that, than feed a worm!

There is a whole big universe out there waiting for me to explore, chip me if it gets me out there. Most people do question mortality (or rather immortality), in their last seconds. Me, chip away dude, I'll love it.

Somehow, there is a difference between chipping and tagging, and of course - everything should be monitored, but nothing should be held back because of pure negativety disguised as "ethical issues". You don't like it, great, don't use it. I want to see my kids grow up, their kids grow up and their kids too, if it is at all possible. And I do want the same for them. If I could be downloaded on to a chip until a new body/blank is created for me, I would be the happiest little "living" being in the universe, believe me.

Less killing, more living!

By the way, 6 - 7 billion people on this planet. Not very many when you take populating and looking after our little solar system into account. We also die to damn fast which doesn't bode well for exploring our own tiny little galaxy! We as the human race need all the help we can get, and these researchers and scientists are right on the money.

As I said, "Bring It On"!
